Where To Find General Transcription Training

Many people who are unfamiliar with general transcription ask where to find transcription training so they can start working at home as a general transcriptionist. Some people think you don ' t need any training at all and it ' s wittily a matter of being able to type fast and listen well. And there are some people that are naturals; they learn fast how to use the software and other equipment and they start right in on hustings up push within a few days.

And some others start in this business after learning and doing transcription on the job with a former employer. Since they have the skills contemporary in place and have been doing transcription for a while, they wittily need to remodel to being home - based and self overloaded.

But for many others, it ' s not so simple and they really need to get back to the basics and learn supplementary skills before attempting to variation into this business as a source of home - based employment or income now this isn ' t just some " type from home and make money " scheme. This is a pure business working with real people and real companies to earn real money.

And it ' s up to you to use your best judgement and decide if paying for a transcription course is really necessary.

If you ' re unfamiliar with what " general transcription " is, let me start by saying that in my opinion, there really is no way to " train " to do general transcription. There are no accredited or certified General Transcription courses and learning to use a transcription machine or software is often part of another course in business or a part of certified medical and legal transcription programs. But so far, you cannot become a Certified General Transcriptionist.

And why is that? Because general transcription fills in the gap; it is everything but medical and legal, so you can get transcription work from any industry and any individual. Unlike the medical and legal fields, there are no industry specific structured ways of typing information into specific templates.

You may do an academic transcript one day in one format on one subject, then do a podcast or general interview the next day in another format in a completely different subject. And since each client sets up their documents a different way depending on what they ' re going to do with it, the same client may have several different formats they want you to use.

In fact, your clients may simply say, ' Just set it up how you think is best, ' and you get to be creative. So you simply cannot learn to use only one or two different " one size fits all " templates. It ' s much too varied.

So basically, if you decide you need hands - on training in a formal setting, you ' re more than likely looking at having to take a medical transcription or legal transcription certificate program and then adapt what you ' ve learned into the general transcription field. And that ' s not really a bad thing because you can never have enough education.

Now if you already have a solid grasp of the English language, typing and you can learn software rather quickly, you may not need to take any professional courses to start in general transcription. But you may need to learn a little bit more about the business end of things, like what software you need and how to get clients. In this case, there are a few books and online resources you can buy.

You need to thoroughly check these resources out though to make sure you ' re not wasting your money. So check for testimonials and even contact the authors. Make sure the course or book will provide a wide variety of sample document formats to use and how to set them up. This will help you learn your word processing program. But remember, these are just samples. You won ' t know ahead of time what your specific clients may want, but if you get enough practice, you ' ll be able to set up anything they require.

Good transcription training courses that are worth their money should also provide you with several sample digital audio files you can practice with, and where to find more samples online, such as business podcasts to download and practice with. It should also include a section that shows you how to record a webcast or podcast from the Internet using digital audio recording software, and a brief section on how to convert a physical cassette tape to a digital file.

And finally, it should show you how to use AutoCorrect and other keyboard shortcuts that will help you with your typing speed.

So, while taking a formal course in transcription training can be costly without getting a college grant, finding a decent course online or simply learning by doing does not have to be expensive. With a little research and effort, you should be finished and on your way to working from home in as little as a few months time.

And remember, having the freedom to work at home with a business that is growing in demand will provide you with the means to enjoy your family, avoid the stress of the average workplace, and give you a sense of pride that you can only achieve from being your own boss.

Why Use Podcasting in Higher Education and Training

Podcasting is only one technology within a whole array of net - based technologies that are used in distance education. In addition, podcasting can be used in many different instructional ways. Forasmuch as, there are many combinations of what is possible with podcasting in education.

For standard, consider combining a teacher podcasting with student and teacher discussion groups, and vlogging of student presentations. Or perhaps a face - to - face class in which students create a podcast project that extends in circuit across several class sessions. In this way students can participate in sharing research and perspectives on course material.

The important point is that we do not have to be confined to one model of instruction. This premise is especially true when we have the opportunity to work with digital natives who may very well catalyze new perspectives of the content during the creative process.

Podcasting has been a movement by which more of the general public could be part of the media. It is called the " democratization of the media ".

In a similar way, couldn ' t podcasting be a push in the direction of co - learning in colleges and universities? Perhaps, we could begin to see teachers and students share, dialogue and engage more through this media. The professors are content experts, the students may provide expertise in the digital culture. This provides a place where we might have a creative nexus.

In addition, large questions lie right in front of us that I believe students of all ages in higher education can explore, such as:

Political issues that collide in the close spaces of our classrooms

Cultural understandings that need to be understood within our local and global communities

Economic issues that impact worldwide audiences rather than solely local or regional spaces

Such questions pose fertile opportunities for 20, 30, or 50 year old learners as podcasters. Or similarly any aged podcast listener?

From creating podcasts, to critiquing their meaning and constructing new understandings, digital media is a nexus of innovation, technology and empowerment and these are generative elements. Let ' s unleash some new possibilities of deeper learning coupled with creativity and expressing understanding. Effective communicators of the 21st century will need these same skills for their professional success. Why not take advantage of the need, the resources and the opportunity to develop engaging critical audio projects in higher education classrooms and training settings?

In a future article, we will discuss how podcasts provide other benefits for these constituencies also.

Why Summer Training Is So Important For B. tech Students

Whenever someone talk about b. tech students the expectations raises as b. tech is one such professional degree course which is specially designed to produce quality scientific professionals. As the syllabus of b. tech is designed by keeping the composition in head of teaching 60 % of practical erudition and 40 % of class room teaching of every technology which comes below b. tech curriculum. B. tech is all about learning applications of technologies, danger shooting etc. This is why constitution double AICTE ( All India Council Of Scientific Education ) call every engineering college throughout the nation to be sure about the standards of these colleges, whether these colleges are capable of delivering quality engineering education.

But, in the contemporaneous latitude the quality of the b. tech professionals is not at all up to the mark due to various reasons. One of the main complication is shortage of caliber teaching professional in majority of the engineering colleges. As most of the engineering colleges can not lend the compensation piqued by these experts. Only top reputated institutions compatible IIT ' s and NIIT ' s can fix up them. Secondly, in disposal to supersede these sane caliber faculties, these engineering colleges are hiring fresher ' s as lecturers, faculties and experts in their colleges as these fresher ' s do not charges much compensation for their work. Besides most of these fresher ' s faculties are not great skilled also as they have just passed out and knows limited about their field. One should to atleast M. tech for teaching engineering students. Another reason is practical teaching is decreasing day by day in the engineering colleges because no one is their to teach practical applications of technologies, and the main motive of every engineering student is to clear the semester examination and not learning application of technologies. The practical and laboratory are now just for formalities in these engineering colleges, no one cares about practical ' s.

Whereas, the first and foremost requirement of the leading companies and MNC ' s is that the students must have a solid technical base, only then they can consider the students for their entry level jobs. As after the recession hit of 2008, no company is ready to invest on training programs of any type. So these companies are looking for quality fresher ' s who can easily adopt them according to the requirements of the company and start giving result in short time. But, in fact majority of the fresher ' s students not at all fits in these criteria ' s set by these top companies, as they are not at all technical strong.

This is the major reason behind the increasing rate of unemployed b. tech students in the market now a days. Because companies are asking for the degree, they are asking for strong technical background. As a result, the popularity of short term summer training programs are increasing at a rapid pace. Moreover, summer training has been announced as a compulsory part of b. tech curriculum, because summer training is the only option for gaining solid technical attainments in the present scenario. Summer training, if only done from a leading training companies can be very effective in improving technical skills of the students which can surely help students is cracking recruitment and placement programs of top companies. As, during these summer training are trained on live projects given by the clients to these leading training companies for development, as these training organization not only provides training but also deals in development services also. Because implementation is the best way to learn technologies practically. As for project development one must have great practical knowledge of the technology.

These summer training are very essential because during these training programs students get opportunities to cover all those important aspects which they miss during their four years of engineering curriculum and are very crucial like great technical background on their respective technologies. Summer training in a very short time covers all basic requirements for great career in future. Summer training, in other words is a opportunity where students can improve their technical and personality aspect for a secure future in technical field. Summer training is the only way out towards a great career and must be done with best possible efforts.
